Project overview
A maritime installation was completed on an offshore rig, involving the delivery and commissioning of a satellite television reception and distribution system.
The objective of the project was to provide reliable DVB-S2 satellite TV signals to multiple accommodation and recreational areas on the rig.
Delivered system
The delivered solution consisted of the following components:
- Wavefield TVRO 90 cm satellite antenna
- Quad LNB configuration for multi-signal distribution
- Multiswitch system for satellite signal routing
- Distribution of DVB-S2 signals to multiple endpoints
- Entertainment system infrastructure for onboard use
The Wavefield TVRO antenna was selected for stable satellite tracking and suitability for offshore operating conditions.
Signal distribution and coverage
The multiswitch system was configured to distribute satellite television signals to a total of 48 TV connections across the rig, including:
- recreation room
- crew mess room
- additional accommodation and common areas
This setup allows simultaneous access to satellite television services across all connected areas without signal degradation.
Maritime installation scope
As part of this marine installation, the following activities were performed:
- antenna installation and alignment
- LNB configuration and signal optimisation
- installation of the multiswitch system
- routing and termination of coaxial cabling
- testing and verification of DVB-S2 signal quality
- system commissioning and handover
All work was carried out in accordance with offshore installation practices.
