Satcenter recently completed a certified VSAT and Starlink installation at Zeyport Istanbul, delivering high-performance internet connectivity for vessels docking at this critical port. The hybrid solution ensures continuous, high-speed communication during both offshore navigation and in-port operations, addressing modern maritime connectivity demands.
The goal of this project was to implement a VSAT and Starlink installation that provides uninterrupted internet service through a dual system:
VSAT system for traditional satellite communication during sea voyages
Starlink terminal for high-speed, low-latency connectivity while moored
Both systems were fully integrated and configured to function in tandem, enabling crew and systems to switch seamlessly between networks based on current location and data needs.
Installing a dual-network internet system in the dynamic environment of Zeyport Istanbul posed several unique challenges:
Signal reception optimization amidst heavy commercial traffic
Integration with legacy onboard IT systems
Smart switching protocol development between Starlink and VSAT
Our engineers worked closely with the Zeyport port authority to overcome these challenges without service disruption, ensuring full operational compatibility.
