Maritime Entertainment Solutions for Crew & Passengers

IPTV, live satellite TV, video on demand, digital signage, Wi-Fi, VoIP, audio-video and gaming, designed and installed around your vessel, its users and its sailing area by Satcenter engineers.

Life on board

Make life on board more comfortable, connected and enjoyable

Weeks at sea are easier when people can relax, stay in touch with home and follow the news and sports they care about. Good maritime entertainment supports crew welfare and retention on commercial vessels and offshore accommodation, and it is part of the product on ferries, cruise ships and yachts.

Satcenter designs and installs onboard entertainment and infotainment for commercial vessels, offshore units, ferries, cruise ships and yachts. From live television and films to internet access, telephony, gaming and audio-video systems, every service runs on one coordinated installation that serves individual cabins, mess rooms, shared lounges and passenger areas.

Because we also install the vessel's Starlink, OneWeb and VSAT connectivity and the onboard network, entertainment is planned together with bandwidth, network separation and security, so it never gets in the way of operations.

IPTV

IPTV systems for ships and offshore accommodation

IPTV delivers television and information through the vessel's internal IP network instead of separate coaxial cables. A central IPTV headend distributes channels and content to smart TVs and set-top boxes in cabins, mess rooms and lounges, and adding a screen is as simple as connecting it to the network.

Depending on the selected system, one on-screen interface brings together:

  • Live TV channels from a TVRO antenna, organised by language or nationality
  • Video on demand and training content from the onboard server
  • Ship information, welcome pages, menus and announcements
  • Multilingual menus and an electronic programme guide

Television received locally and content stored on board keep working without an external internet connection. TV traffic runs on its own network segment, separated from bridge, engine and business systems. Discover how it works for cruise ships and ferries on our hospitality IPTV solutions page.

Video on demand

Video on demand (VOD) at sea

Let crew members and passengers choose what to watch and when to watch it. An onboard VOD system makes a library of films, series, documentaries and children's programmes available from local storage, on cabin TVs and, where supported, on phones, tablets and laptops.

  • No internet data: playback comes from the onboard server, so one copy serves everyone without touching the vessel's internet allowance.
  • Licensed content: films and series are supplied with the public performance rights needed for viewing on board.
  • Scheduled updates: new titles are added automatically overnight or in port, or loaded during a service visit.
  • Training and company content: safety instructions, familiarisation videos and company messages on the same platform.

Viewing options depend on the platform and the connected devices. We size storage and network capacity for the number of cabins and simultaneous viewers.

Live TV

Live TV and satellite television on board

Bring news, sports and entertainment to cabins, mess rooms and passenger lounges. Marine TVRO antennas automatically follow the selected television satellite while the vessel moves, and broadcast channels are received directly from the satellite without using internet data, subject to coverage and reception conditions.

We distribute live television through a multiswitch installation, so every cabin can watch its own channel, or integrate it into an onboard IPTV system. Channel availability depends on the sailing area, the receiving equipment and the television subscription; free-to-air channels and packages such as Sky, Canal+ or Digiturk can be combined.

  • Antenna selection for your routes and preferred channels
  • Installation, alignment and signal testing
  • Distribution to cabins, mess rooms, offices and lounges

Digital signage

Digital signage systems for vessels

Keep people informed with centrally managed displays in reception areas, corridors, restaurants, mess rooms and shared spaces. Content is managed from one place and can be tailored to each screen or location.

  • Welcome messages and boarding information
  • Daily schedules, activity programmes and restaurant menus
  • Company announcements, safety notices and onboard instructions
  • Voyage information, weather and port arrival times

Locally stored material stays available without external internet access. Where the vessel is connected, content can be updated remotely by the office, for one ship or the whole fleet.

VoIP telephony

Onboard VoIP telephony for cabins and departments

Connect cabins, offices, the bridge and service areas through an onboard VoIP telephone system. Internal calls travel over the vessel's local network, so crew members and passengers can reach reception, housekeeping, the galley or other departments without any call charges.

Satcenter integrates IP phones and a central telephone system (IP PBX) into the vessel network, with extension plans, voicemail and call groups. External calls to shore require a suitable connection and telephone service, and can be routed over Starlink, VSAT or 4G.

Crew internet

Crew internet and Wi-Fi

Give crew members access to messaging, video calls, social media and online services during their time off. Staying in touch with family is one of the most important factors in crew welfare and retention.

We design crew Wi-Fi networks with coverage suited to cabins, mess rooms and recreation areas, using marine-grade access points. Depending on your policy, access can be based on:

  • Vouchers or individual user accounts
  • Daily, weekly or monthly data allowances
  • Time windows and fair-use bandwidth limits

Network separation and traffic management keep entertainment use under control and give business communications priority. Our maritime cybersecurity setup keeps the crew network isolated from operational systems.

Passenger internet

Passenger internet for ferries, cruise ships and yachts

Provide convenient internet access in passenger cabins, lounges, restaurants and open decks. Solutions can include:

  • A branded login portal with your logo and terms
  • Complimentary access, paid access or a combination
  • Usage packages by time, data volume or speed
  • Online payment and voucher sales at reception

We assess expected passenger numbers, Wi-Fi coverage and the available external connection, from Starlink Maritime to 4G/5G near the coast, to design a service that stays fast at busy times while protecting bandwidth for ship operations.
